Artist Description:

I am proud of my culture and I try and introduce designs, traditions, colours, ideas and eastern lifestyles which reflect my style of creating these paintings.

This piece is rich in texture and colour, a strikingly detailed, colourful still life painting inspired by the brown statutes gifted to me by my partner 12 years ago from a town called Skagen in the northern part of Denmark.  This was a fun way in capturing the sweet memories and collecting them in a painting.   This artwork will add beauty to your home or can be an ideal piece for your office decor to give you that warm welcome feeling.

Painted vertical on a cotton canvas using acrylic medium, set against a background of lemon yellow cadmium blended with yellow ochre to give that vibrant and bold effect, integrated with few thick and thin gestural lines using brown and raw umber blended lightly with yellow to separate the whole background. Majority of brown umber colour was used to paint the statues, white thin lines emphasised throughout the statues represent detailed pattern and design.  Gold paint applied to display decorative style and uniqueness to certain areas.

Both statues display their hands in the form of Namaste or namaskar painted bottom right hand corner, which is the Hindu way of greeting each other.  Translated roughly, it means "I bow to the God within you", or "The spirit within me salutes the spirit in you", a knowing that we are all made from the same One Divine Consciousness.

The male peacock Indian Peafowl colours are phthalo blue and light blue painted in wide and thick circular lines representing the body, the beak and the feathers painted in titanium white and the plumage painted in green.   The peacock is a possessor of some of the most admired human characteristics, and is a symbol of integrity and the beauty we can achieve when we endeavour to show our true colours.  In history, myth, legend and lore, the peacock symbolism carries portents of nobility, holiness, guidance, protection and watchfulness.

Materials used:

Cotton canvas stretched on wooden frame, artist quality round and flat brushes, acrylic paints used yellow ochre blended with lemon yellow cadmium, brown blended with raw umbre, titanium white blended with black and gold metallic paint used for decorative areas.  It's an original. Signed and dated.
