Murals
In July 2007, I was on a summer break with my son in sunny England, visiting my sister and her family. Whilst there, my nephew asked me if I could paint a wall mural of a skull in his bedroom. He had chosen a photo of what he wanted and I used that as a reference. I had never attempted a wall mural before so this came as a surprising challenge. Painting on a wall gave me a sense of freedom and felt as though I was not restricted to a limited amount of space, whereas I am if painting on a canvas. Thoroughly enjoyed the wall experience and ended up painting another wall mural for my son when I returned home to Denmark.
Both murals are circa. 100 cm x 100 cm, painted in acrylic medium, used few brushes for this project, ended up using my fingers. Mural painted in England is set against black background with the sign painted next to the skull in white is a symbol of my nephew's birth sign in Chinese. Skull painted in Denmark is set against a background of yellow, red and black represents the flames.
