Indian Village Belle
Work-in-progress - 2017
Indian Village Belle, 2016-2017, work-in-progress, acrylic on cotton canvas, Size 23 6/8” x 31 1/2” inches (60 x 80 centimeters) wooden frame with hanging installation optional
Here, I have shown a beautiful Indian woman carrying clay pots in her rural surroundings. The pots are empty, but need filling with water. Women in rural villages have a very limited resources. Some parts of rural India there is no gas, electricity or constant running water on tap. Everyday they have their regular chores which might entail a very long walk to the well in order for the clay pots to be full of water. She takes a break from carrying a heavy load by resting her tired body against a wall in order for her to get her strength back so she can walk that extra mile home.
I have used several colours in this painting. The wall behind her has base colours but with a combination of different colours. I have used some raw colours also without mixing them with the others.
Work in progress.
Cotton canvas, brushes round and flat, artist quality acrylic paint, colours used yellow ochre, rose alizarin red, lake blue, cadmium orange, brown umbre, lichter ochre, naples yellow, burnt sienna, quinacridone rose light, silver, titanium white, mars black and gold. It's an original. Signed and dated. Ready to be hanged with or without a frame. Sides of canvas are painted so framing is not necessary.
