I heard there was a family wedding which inspired me to do this painting. All traditional Indian weddings are known for their grandeur and fun atmosphere, multi-day affairs and involve many intricate ceremonies. Its a display of colourful occasion, beautiful clothes and jewelry.
Brides in India wear a lot of gold jewelry, which I tried to reflect in the painting. She is wearing henna (mehndi) inside the palm of her hand, displaying bangles, necklace and nose piercing. Her lips are painted in bright colour pink. Her head is covered by her saree or sari a garment worn by Indian women. I used warm and pleasing colors painting her to complement her soft and dreamy features.
Cotton canvas, brushes round and flat, artist quality acrylic paint, colours used blue, white, black, rose alizarin red, quinacridone rose light, green and gold. It's an original. Signed and dated. Ready to be hanged with or without a frame. Sides of canvas are painted so framing is not necessary.
