Namaste (II) - 2016/2017
June 2017 - Work-in-progress
Acrylic on cotton canvas, wooden frame with hanging installation optional
Size 31 1/2” x 39 3/8” inches (80 x 100 centimeters)
This is the second in a series of Namaste collection, slightly on a much larger scale then the previous one "Namaste (I)", which I painted in 2010. I wanted to show this painting in a different light applying more texture and colour to the statues, giving them a more colorful life. It's work in progress. I hope to create a strinkingly detailed still life painting.
I have used several different colours in this work also. The wall behind her has base colours but with a combination of different other colours. I have used some raw colours without mixing them with the others. I have used the technique scumbling.
Cotton canvas, brushes round and flat, artist quality acrylic paint, colours used yellow ochre, lemon yellow cadmium, raw umbre, cobalt blue, brilliant red and gold. It's an original. Signed and dated. Ready to be hanged with or without a frame. Sides of canvas are painted so framing is not necessary.
